September is National Sewing Month! (Deadline Extended for Completed Crayon Packs)

Martelli has a special sewing project we would love to get customers and kids involved in. For National Sewing Month in September our project, Children’s Charity Drive, will benefit children who could use a little more happiness in their life. The organizations we’re working with are Favor House of North West Florida and Ronald McDonald House. As a local charity, Favor House helps mothers and children escape domestic abuse and violence. We also know how it’s also important to help children across the nation. That’s why we’ve chosen to work with Ronald McDonald House, a national charity that assists parents with children making extended hospital stays.
We’re making this sewing project fun and easy that any child would love to receive by making small and simple roll-up cases of crayons. We provide the crayons for all cases.
A special thank you goes to Melba Watson of Green Cove Springs, Florida for sending in the first set of crayon roll-ups for our Children’s Charity Drive. In order to allow more time for participation, we’re extending the project through the first week of October and changing the deadline to send in completed crayon packs to Friday, October 6

Next Steps

1. Make us a crayon roll-up, or two, or a dozen!
2. Send or bring completed crayon roll-up packs to our store at 5450 North“W” Street, Pensacola, Florida, 32505. Please include name, shipping address, phone, and email, along with the completed roll-up(s).
3. Participants that send in a roll-up crayon case by October 6 will receive a 2-pack of blades (one 2-pack per person who sends in cases) as a thank you gift for participating. Be sure to include your shipping address with your project when you send it in!
4. When you send in your case, please feel free to send in a personal note, card, or a picture of you making it. The children who receive these donations would love to have a written letter come with their case or even a coloring book to go with it. This is optional. Martelli Enterprises will provide crayons to go in the roll-up cases that we receive.

Later in October, we will go to the Ronald McDonald House and Favor House to donate all of the crayon packs that were made, along with any coloring books or notes that come with them. We will put pictures up on our website so you can see how your work is helping kids and families.
